Overview

SOCOMEC Countis E24 is a MID-certified (Annex B) three-phase energy meter with CT inputs (5A), Modbus RTU (RS485) and Modbus TCP (via optional Ethernet module). For KNX integration, Modbus TCP is preferred — no RS485 cabling required, meter sits on building LAN.

Modbus TCP Configuration

Countis E24 Modbus TCP: IP address configured via front panel menu (Settings → Communication → IP). Default port 502, unit ID 1. Register map (all holding, FC3, 16-bit registers): 0x000C-0x000D (active power P total, int32, W), 0x000E-0x000F (active power L1, int32, W), 0x0010-0x0011 (active power L2, W), 0x0012-0x0013 (active power L3, W), 0x0014-0x0015 (reactive power Q total, kVAR, int32), 0x0022-0x0023 (apparent power S, kVA), 0x0024 (power factor total, int16, 0.001), 0x0034-0x0035 (active import energy Ea+, uint32, Wh), 0x0036-0x0037 (active export energy Ea-, uint32, Wh), 0x0044 (voltage L1, uint16, 0.1V), 0x0046 (voltage L2), 0x0048 (voltage L3).

Weinzierl Gateway Setup

Weinzierl KNX Modbus TCP Gateway (art. 5010): configure read task 1: poll 0x000C (2 regs, int32) every 10s → KNX GA DPT 14.056 (W). Read task 2: poll 0x0034 (2 regs, uint32) every 60s → KNX GA DPT 13.013 (Wh). Read task 3: poll 0x0024 every 60s → KNX GA DPT 9.021 (power factor).

BREEAM Ene 02 Sub-Metering

Zone layout: install one Countis E24 per zone — Zone 1 Lighting (lighting circuits DB), Zone 2 HVAC (AHU supply circuit), Zone 3 Small Power (office equipment), Zone 4 Lifts (transport sub-panel). Each zone has a dedicated KNX GA for kWh accumulation. ARISTO BewO M&T polls KNX energy GAs every 15 minutes, stores in PostgreSQL, generates Ene 02 compliant Excel/PDF report for BREEAM assessor.

Diris Digiware Alternative

For 4+ circuits in the same DB, Diris M-30 hub combined with I-30 sub-meter modules (one per circuit) is more cost-effective than separate Countis E24 units. Diris M-30 Modbus TCP hub address provides all sub-meter data at offsets.
