Loxone Audio Server (6 stereo zones, 50W x 2 per zone) integrates with KNX via the Loxone KNX Extension. It adds Spotify Connect, AirPlay 2, and TuneIn streaming to a KNX automation system — all controlable from standard KNX wall panels without a dedicated app.

System Architecture

Loxone Miniserver (building automation controller) connects to KNX via the Loxone KNX Extension (DIN rail, KNX TP). The Loxone Audio Server (separate Ethernet device) communicates with the Miniserver over LAN. The Miniserver acts as the bridge: KNX telegrams -> Miniserver logic -> Audio Server commands.

Audio Server configuration in Loxone Config software: add Audio Server device (enter IP address). Config auto-discovers 6 stereo zone amplifier outputs. Add Audio Player block to each room in the building structure. Each Audio Player exposes: Play/Pause (digital), Volume (analogue 0-100), Source (analogue index), Next/Previous (digital).

KNX Extension Mapping

In Loxone Config KNX module: right-click Audio Player 'Volume' -> assign KNX GA 5/1/1 (DPT 5.001, zone 1 volume). 'Play/Pause' -> GA 5/1/0 (DPT 1.001). 'Source' -> GA 5/1/2 (DPT 5.010).

These become standard KNX objects — any wall panel (MDT BE-GT2TW glass touch, Gira 2170, Merten M-Touch) can send volume and source commands directly. ETS6 links the panel GAs to the Loxone KNX Extension virtual COs.

Streaming Sources

Spotify Connect: Audio Server appears as a Spotify Connect target in the Spotify app. Setup in Loxone Config: Settings > Cloud Services > Spotify > link account. Each Audio Server zone appears as a separate Spotify device (e.g. 'Living Room', 'Kitchen', 'Bedroom').

KNX trigger of Spotify playlist: in Loxone Config, create Virtual Input for playlist selection (DPT 5.010). Loxone LUA script: when VirtualInput changes -> call Spotify API to start configured playlist on zone. KNX GA 5/1/10 sends playlist index (1=morning news, 2=jazz, 3=workout) from KNX time schedule.

AirPlay 2: Audio Server zones visible in iOS Control Center speaker list. No configuration needed beyond device name.

TuneIn Radio: configure stations in Loxone Config Audio library. KNX GA 5/1/2 source index 0 = TuneIn, 1 = Line In, 2 = Spotify, 3 = AirPlay.

Wake-Up and Goodbye Scenes

Morning wake-up (ETS6 KNX time scheduler): at 07:00 -> send scene 1 to GA 0/0/20 (Loxone scene input DPT 18.001). Loxone scene 1: bedroom zone volume 20%, source = TuneIn (pre-set morning station), play. Loxone also raises blinds 30% and sets HVAC setpoint to comfort mode.

Goodbye (door contact GA 8/0/0 = 0, last person leaves): Loxone sends stop to all Audio Player zones. KNX sends HVAC setback and blind positions simultaneously. One sensor trigger controls entire house state.

Multi-Room Sync

Loxone 'Synchronise zones' block links multiple Audio Players: when master volume GA 5/2/50 changes -> Loxone writes proportional values to all zones. Individual zones still controllable via their own GAs. Party mode GA 0/0/21 = 1: all zones set to same source, 60% volume via Loxone logic.
