Larnitech KNX Modules: Latvian DIN Rail Devices for Baltic Smart Buildings
Larnitech (Riga, Latvia) designs and manufactures KNX TP certified DIN rail modules for the Baltic and Eastern European smart building market. 12-Channel Binary Input with NTC Temperature
Larnitech KNX 12-channel binary input (LARNI-BI-12, DIN 4TE): 12 inputs each configurable individually as switch input, push-button (short/long), motion sensor, or temperature sensor. On-board 10 kΩ NTC temperature measurement on each input terminal — no separate NTC module needed. Temperature DPT 9.001 (2-byte float), configurable transmission interval (5s minimum) and delta threshold (0.5 degrees C default).
Compared to MDT BE-4000.02 (4-input): Larnitech provides 3x the input density in the same panel space at lower cost per input. The integrated NTC measurement is unique in this product category — one module handles both push-button inputs and room temperature sensing. Use case: building with 12 rooms requiring one temperature sensor and one push-button per room: 12 Larnitech binary inputs handle all rooms without separate temperature modules.
6-Channel Switching Actuator 8A
Larnitech KNX 6-channel switching actuator 8A (LARNI-SA-6CH-8A, DIN 4TE): 6 relay outputs, 8A/250VAC per channel. Short-circuit protection (electronic, per channel — trips and sends alarm KNX telegram). Status feedback objects (current switch state, independent of command state). Central function object (all channels on/off via single 1-bit telegram). Power-on behaviour configurable per channel: 0, 1, or last state (stored in EEPROM).
Position in KNX panel: directly comparable to MDT AKK-0600.03 (6-channel, 6A) but with 8A per channel — better suited for loads up to 1840W per circuit. Use for lighting circuits with multiple LED drivers, motor loads (30% derating for motor inrush), and socket circuits.
4-Channel Universal Dimmer
Larnitech KNX 4-channel universal dimmer (LARNI-DIM-4CH, DIN 4TE): 4x TRIAC channels, 300W per channel, auto-detection of leading edge vs trailing edge. Linearisation curve for LED dimmers (compensates for non-linear LED driver response). Manual override button on unit front for commissioning without ETS6 connection. Compatible with most 230VAC dimmable LED drivers that do not require neutral at the dimmer.
Limitation vs MDT DIM-4: Larnitech does not support DIN-Rail addressable DALI output — if DALI control is required, use Tridonic or OSRAM DALI gateway. For simple 1-10V analogue dimming: Larnitech does not offer a 1-10V module — use MDT AKD-0601.02 or Siemens 5WG1262.
4-Channel Blind/Shutter Actuator
Larnitech KNX 4-channel blind/shutter actuator (LARNI-BLIND-4CH, DIN 4TE): 4 motor outputs (each output switches up/down 230VAC). Venetian blind mode: position percentage DPT 5.001 and slat angle DPT 5.001 — full Raffstore support. Travel time calibration: auto-calibration by running blind to both end stops and measuring travel time. Wind alarm input: 1-bit KNX object per channel locks the channel in UP position when wind alarm GA triggers (e.g. from Elsner P04-KNX-GPS).
Use case: residential villa with 10 Raffstore groups. 3 LARNI-BLIND-4CH modules cover all 10+2 reserve channels in 3x4TE = 12TE total DIN space. Cost advantage over Gira or MDT blind actuators in Baltic market pricing.
RS232/RS485 KNX Gateway
Larnitech KNX RS485 gateway (LARNI-RS485-GW): transparent serial-to-KNX gateway with 16 Modbus RTU register mappings. Configure in ETS6 or via web UI: enter device IP address of RS485 Modbus device, register address, data type (uint16, int16, float32), scaling factor, and target KNX GA with DPT. Gateway polls registers at configurable interval and sends KNX telegram on change.
Practical use: connect Ouman EH-203 heating controller (RS485, 9600/8E1) to Larnitech gateway. Map EH-203 registers 1 (outdoor temp), 10 (flow temp), 20 (operating mode) to KNX GAs. Gateway handles Modbus polling autonomously — no external Modbus gateway hardware needed. Limitation vs MDT SCN-MOD.02: Larnitech RS485 gateway supports 16 register mappings maximum; MDT supports 255. For simple HVAC controllers (5-10 registers), Larnitech is sufficient.
