Overview

iGuzzini Palco (museum spotlight) and Laser Blade XS (precision architectural spotlight) are DALI-2 Part 1 + DT8 compliant luminaires for museum galleries, hotel lobbies, and architectural lighting.

KNX/DALI Integration

Theben DALI Poet 1 gateway (1 KNX TP connection, 1 DALI bus, 64 addressable devices). In ETS6: import Theben DALI Poet product database entry. Under the DALI tab, commission each iGuzzini fixture: assign short address (0-63) by pressing 'Identify' in ETS6 — the targeted fixture flashes twice to confirm.

DALI-2 Device Types and Group Assignments

iGuzzini Palco uses DALI Device Type 8 (DT8) for tunable white. ETS6 DALI commissioning tool automatically detects DT8 capability during device scan. Configure DALI group assignments: group 1 = main gallery spotlights (Palco address 0-7), group 2 = perimeter downlights (Trick address 8-15), group 3 = transition corridor (Laser Blade XS address 16-23).

KNX group objects per group: DPT 5.001 (dimming level 0-100%), DPT 9.003 (colour temperature K), DPT 1.001 (on/off).

EN 15194 Museum Standard

Maximum 50 lux on oil paintings and textiles, 200 lux on photographs, unlimited on stone/metal/ceramics. iGuzzini Palco provides individual lux control per artwork position.

Tunable White Scenes for Conservation

Daytime gallery scene (4000K, 40% for moderate art protection), curator scene (6500K, 80% for colour-accurate assessment), evening tour (3000K, 30% for ambiance). KNX time switch: advance scene before opening (06:00 curator 6500K for staff preparation, 09:30 public 4000K, 18:00 evening 3000K).

Colour Temperature Conversion

DPT 9.003 value represents Kelvin. Theben DALI Poet converts KNX 9.003 float value (e.g. 4000.0) to DALI DT8 'Set Colour Temperature Tc' Mired command: 'Mired = 1000000 / Kelvin' (4000K = 250 Mired). For 2700K: 370 Mired, for 6500K: 154 Mired, for 1700K: 588 Mired.

Dimming Curve and Emergency Lighting

iGuzzini DALI-2 drivers implement logarithmic DALI dimming curve (DAPC 0-254 mapped to 0.1%-100% visual output) — ensure ETS6 dim object uses 0-100% scale which maps correctly. Emergency lighting: iGuzzini Emergency driver option (DALI Part 202) integrates battery backup in fitting. KNX gateway queries battery status every 24h — alert if battery charge < 80%.
