Gewiss KNX Actuators and Push-Buttons: Chorus Range ETS6 Commissioning

SmartMāja Engineering Team·2026-11-13·6 min read

Gewiss is Italy's largest electrical installation manufacturer and a full KNX Association member — the Chorus KNX range covers switch actuators, dimmer actuators, blind actuators, push-button interfaces, DALI gateways, and IP routers. All Gewiss KNX products are ETS6 certified and listed in the KNX Association online catalogue. For Italian residential and commercial projects, Gewiss Chorus is the reference KNX system — used alongside Gewiss electrical installation frames and back boxes.

Gewiss Chorus KNX range overview

Key Gewiss KNX devices: GW14801 (2-channel switch actuator, 16A, DIN-rail, ETS6, for lighting and heating actuators), GW14802 (4-channel, 16A), GW14810 (8-channel, 10A, for office lighting), GW10815 (4-gang push-button interface, surface or flush-mount, LED feedback, ETS6), GW14840 (4-channel dimmer actuator, 300W per channel, trailing-edge for LED), GW14820 (2-channel blind actuator, for roller shutters and venetian blinds), GW14853 (DALI gateway, 64 DALI-2 devices, ETS6 plug-in), GW90609 (KNX IP router, KNXnet/IP routing, 150 telegrams/second). All DIN-rail devices: 35mm TS rail, 24V DC or 230V AC power depending on model. Push-buttons: Gewiss Chorus frames (Italian standard 503E, 45×45mm modules) — compatible with Gewiss GW10815 module.

GW14802 switch actuator ETS6 parameters

Download Gewiss .knxprod from gewiss.com > KNX Products > ETS6 files. Import to ETS6, add GW14802 to project. Parameters per channel: Output type (switch / timing / scene / staircase), Manual override button (enable/disable), Behaviour on bus voltage recovery (off/on/last state), Contact type (NO/NC for fail-safe). For lighting: Channel 1 Output type = Switch. GA 1/1/0 (Office Lights, DPT 1.001) → linked to GW14802 Channel 1 switch object. For heating valve (motorised thermal valve, 230V): Channel 2 Output type = Switch, invert if NC valve. Scene function: Channel 1 > Output type = Switch AND scene enable = Yes → link both GA 1/1/0 (direct control) and GA 1/5/0 (scene recall). Staircase function: Output type = Staircase timer, time 120 seconds, restart on each press — for common areas.

GW10815 push-button commissioning

GW10815 4-gang push-button interface: 4 independent push-button inputs (each input: press, release, long press, short press independently configurable). Mounts behind Gewiss Chorus 4-gang frame. ETS6 parameters per button: Short press action (Switch, Toggle, Value, Scene, Dim), Long press action (Dim start, dim stop), Toggle mode, LED indicator (Status, Dimmer, Off). Wiring: KNX TP YCYM cable → GW10815 bus terminals (standard KNX colours). Each button independently linked to GAs: Button 1 → GA 1/1/0 (Light Zone A on/off, toggle mode). Button 2 → GA 1/1/2 (Light Zone B, toggle). Button 3 → GA 1/5/0 (Scene recall, DPT 18.001, short=scene 1). Button 4 → GA 7/1/0 (HVAC setpoint raise DPT 3.007 dim, long press). LED 1 → feedback GA 1/1/1 (status from actuator) = green when on, off when off. Commissioning: connect KNX cable, press programming button (small button on GW10815 side), ETS6 assigns individual address.

GW14853 DALI gateway ETS6 plug-in

Gewiss GW14853 DALI gateway (64 DALI-2 devices, DIN-rail, 24V DC + DALI bus power 250mA, ETS6 plug-in). ETS6 plug-in (downloaded with .knxprod, installs automatically): open GW14853 in ETS6 > right-click > Open plug-in. DALI scan: plug-in > Scan DALI bus → finds all connected ballasts with random addresses. Assign short addresses: double-click device → assign address 0–63. Group assignment: drag devices into groups (Group 1 = Open Plan Left, Group 2 = Open Plan Right). Scene programming: Scenes tab → Scene 1 "Presence" → set Group 1 = 80%, Group 2 = 80% → write to devices. KNX group objects (in ETS6 GW14853 object list): Group 1 On/Off (DPT 1.001) → GA 1/2/0, Group 1 Dim (DPT 5.001) → GA 1/2/1, Scene Recall (DPT 18.001) → GA 1/5/0. Download ETS6 parameters → test group on/off and dim from ETS6 Group Monitor.

Common Italian KNX project configuration

Typical 100m² Italian apartment KNX project with Gewiss Chorus: 6 rooms, 12 light circuits, 4 blind circuits, 4 heating zones. BOM: 6× GW10815 push-button (one per room), 2× GW14802 4-channel switch actuator (lighting), 1× GW14820 2-channel blind actuator × 2 (4 blinds), 1× Gewiss MDT heating actuator (4-zone) or compatible brand, 1× GW14853 DALI gateway if LED strips in kitchen/bathroom, 1× Gewiss KNX PS640 power supply. ETS6 commissioning time: 1 day for experienced engineer using template copy-paste approach. Italian-market note: Gewiss GW10815 push-buttons include Italian 503E frame compatibility — directly accepts Gewiss Chorus decorative frames for aesthetic consistency throughout the apartment. No adapter needed, unlike using German KNX push-buttons (Jung, Gira) in Italian back boxes.
