Ekinex Audio Modules: KNX Volume and Source Control from Wall Panels
Ekinex (Como, Italy) produces premium flat-glass KNX wall panels (EK-TF1, EK-T2R series) and an audio control module (EK-AUDIO series) that integrates with multi-zone audio amplifiers via KNX group addresses. Ekinex panels provide a clean capacitive touch interface for volume and source control in residential and hotel projects.
Ekinex EK-T2R Audio Panel
The Ekinex EK-T2R (2-button touch panel with rotary encoder) is the standard Ekinex audio control unit. Rotary encoder: turn clockwise = volume increase (DPT 5.001 send value, or DPT 3.007 dimming step). Push rotary: mute toggle (DPT 1.001). Buttons: source up/down (DPT 5.010 send sequential values).
ETS6 parameterisation: Ekinex EK-T2R product database entry. Rotary encoder object: configure as 'absolute value sender' (sends 0-100% on rotation) or 'relative dimming' (sends DPT 3.007 steps). For ZAS-AUDIO8B volume control: use absolute 5.001 — direct value matches amplifier volume object.
Ekinex EK-TF1 Multi-Function Panel
EK-TF1 (6-button flush panel, 55mm EU frame): each button pair configures independently. For audio: button 1 up/down = source selection (5.010), button 2 up/down = volume step (1.007), button 3 = room on/off (1.001). Status LED on each button shows zone power state (DPT 1.001 feedback object linked to amplifier status GA).
The same EK-TF1 in a hotel room: top button pair = room lighting, middle = HVAC setpoint, bottom = audio control — all from a single elegant panel with no visible labels (LED backlighting only).
Integration with Third-Party Amplifiers
Ekinex panels send standard KNX DPTs — compatible with any KNX audio amplifier (Zennio ZAS-AUDIO8B, JUNG CD 590, Gira G1, HDL M-AC8, Nuvo Grand Concerto KNX). No proprietary coupling required. The Ekinex panel is purely an input device: it sends KNX telegrams to GAs configured in ETS6.
For non-KNX amplifiers (Sonos, Yamaha MusicCast): a KNX-to-audio bridge is required between ETS6 and the amplifier. Options: Intesis INKNXSON001O000 (KNX-to-Sonos, DIN rail), or Node-RED KNX plugin + node-sonos library on Raspberry Pi.
Hotel Room Audio Scenario
Hotel room panel (Ekinex EK-TF1): guest presses audio zone on (button 3 push = DPT 1.001 GA 5/3/1 = 1). KNX amplifier (Zennio ZAS-AUDIO8B zone 5) powers on, starts at 20% volume (default parameterised in ZAS). Guest adjusts volume via button 2 (1.007 step + or -). Guest checks out: KNX room controller (MDT fan coil controller) detects card reader signal -> sends scene 10 (checkout) = all loads off including audio GA 5/3/1 = 0.
Source pre-selection for hotel: Zone 5 source fixed to Source 1 = hotel in-house radio/channel (configured in ZAS-AUDIO8B as power-on default source). Guest cannot change source from wall panel — source change buttons disabled in ETS6 parameter for hotel preset.
