2N Helios IP Verso KNX Integration: Door Release, Call Forwarding and Access Logging

2N 916010 KNX interface module

The 2N 916010 KNX interface is a hardware add-on module designed for installation inside the 2N Helios IP Verso backbox. It connects directly to the KNX TP bus (24V DC supplied from the KNX bus, UART bridge to Helios IP Verso main board). Installation: open the Helios IP Verso backbox cover, slide the 916010 module onto the internal connector rail, and connect the KNX TP bus wires to the module's KNX terminals (polarity insensitive). The module requires no external power supply.

Download the ETS6 product database entry from the 2N website (2n.com/en/downloads, search 'KNX module', download the .knxprod file). Import into ETS6 and add the device under the Helios building location. The application is straightforward: configure communication objects for door bell, door release, and door status.

KNX group objects and datapoints

The 2N 916010 exposes the following communication objects in ETS6: 'Door Call' DPT 1.001 (sends value 1 when doorbell button is pressed, automatically resets to 0 after 30 seconds; link to GA 7/0/0). 'Door Release' DPT 1.001 (write 1 → activates the electric strike for 5 seconds, as configured in 2N web interface under Hardware → Digital Outputs → Output 1 duration; link to GA 7/0/1). 'Door Open Status' DPT 1.001 (reads 1 if magnetic door contact reports door as open; link to GA 7/0/2 — requires optional magnetic contact wired to Helios digital input 1). 'Call Active' DPT 1.001 (1 = ongoing call in progress; link to GA 7/0/3).

Configure the 2N Helios IP Verso web interface: navigate to Hardware → KNX, enable KNX interface, set Individual Address (e.g., 1.1.50). Confirm the KNX module firmware version matches the ETS6 database version (both displayed in 2N web interface Hardware → KNX → Module Info).

Multi-apartment configuration

In an apartment building with 2N Helios and a 99-button video module (2N 9155099), each button press corresponds to an apartment number. Configure the 2N via the web interface to send the button number as a DPT 5.001 value (0–99) to KNX GA 7/0/4 whenever a button is pressed. In ETS6, a KNX logic function decodes the incoming value on GA 7/0/4 and routes the call notification to the correct apartment: if value = 5 → write 1 to GA 7/5/0 (apartment 5 KNX IP intercom call signal); if value = 12 → write 1 to GA 7/12/0, and so on.

Each apartment is equipped with a KNX IP indoor station (MDT Glastaster II with IP capability, or Siedle Bus Station with KNX adapter). The indoor station rings when its assigned KNX GA receives value 1. Occupant presses 'door open' on the indoor station → writes 1 to GA 7/0/1 → electric strike activates.

Scene and lighting integration

When door release GA 7/0/1 = 1, a KNX scene function simultaneously executes: hallway lighting (DALI group 1) → scene command 'Entry' (100% brightness, 5-minute timer then return to base level). This ensures the entering visitor always arrives in a lit hallway regardless of the time of day or occupancy status. The timer is implemented via a KNX staircase function on the lighting channel.

For commercial buildings with access logging requirements, BACnet integration runs in parallel. The 2N Helios IP Verso also supports BACnet/IP natively (enabled in Hardware → BACnet). BACnet Binary Input 'Door Release Event' is consumed by the building BMS for access audit logging alongside the KNX door release event.

SIP video call forwarding

Configure the 2N Helios IP Verso SIP account (2N web → Services → Phone → SIP Account 1: SIP proxy = internal PBX or cloud SIP provider, username and password). When a visitor presses the doorbell, the Verso initiates a SIP video call to the configured extension. KNX indoor stations with SIP capability (MDT Glastaster II KNX+ model) register as SIP extensions and display the door camera video feed on their touchscreen.

Commissioning verification: in ETS6 Group Monitor, write 1 to GA 7/0/1 (Door Release) and confirm the electric strike activates and releases after the configured duration (5 seconds). Press the physical doorbell button on the Verso and confirm GA 7/0/0 = 1 appears in Group Monitor within 2 seconds. Open the physical door and confirm GA 7/0/2 transitions to 1 (door open status). Test full SIP call path: press doorbell, verify indoor station rings and video appears.
